Terms of Service

Last updated October 19, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“EC Takeoff”, “we”, “us”) for your use of the EC Takeoff website and application at ectakeoff.com (the “Service”). By creating an account or starting a trial you agree to them. If you use the Service for a company, you agree on its behalf and confirm you may do so.

1. Your account

You need an account to use the Service. Give us an email address you check, keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.

2. Free trial

A new account gets a 14-day free trial of the Service. No payment card is needed to start it, and we will not charge you when it ends. After the trial your account becomes read-only: you can still sign in, view and export your work, but new projects and uploads are paused until you choose a plan in Settings. We may change or end trial offers for future accounts.

3. Subscriptions and automatic renewal

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, at the price shown on our pricing page when you subscribe (currently Solo $99 a month or $990 a year, Professional $249 a month or $2,490 a year), plus any applicable tax.

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, for the same period, and the payment method on file is charged the then-current price until you cancel. If we change a plan’s price we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies to your next renewal. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card number.

If a payment fails we will try again and let you know. If it still cannot be collected your account may become read-only until it is paid.

4. Cancelling, changing plans and refunds

You can cancel any time from Settings → Manage billing in the app, which opens Stripe’s billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal: you keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for, and then the account becomes read-only. Switching plans in the portal takes effect straight away, with the difference prorated. Our refund policy is on the Cancellation & Refunds page and forms part of these terms.

5. Your drawings and data

You own what you upload — drawings, specifications, price sheets, labor rates and the takeoffs, estimates and proposals you make from them (“Your Content”). We claim no ownership of it. You give us only the permission we need to run the Service for you: to store, copy, process and display Your Content so the Service can read the drawings, count devices and produce your results. We do not sell Your Content, show it to other customers, or use it to build anything for anyone but you.

We treat Your Content as confidential. Bid documents are often under a non-disclosure agreement or otherwise not public; we only access Your Content to provide or support the Service, to fix a problem you report, to keep the Service secure, or when the law requires it. Our staff and the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy who handle it are bound to keep it confidential.

You confirm you have the right to upload Your Content and to have us process it — for example, that sharing a bid set with your estimating software is allowed by the terms under which you received it.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend an account that does any of these, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

7. Results are an estimating aid

The Service reads drawings automatically and suggests counts, lengths, labor hours and prices. Automatic reading makes mistakes: a symbol may be missed, misread or counted twice, and drawings themselves contain errors. You are responsible for checking every quantity, price and bid before you rely on it or submit it. We do not guarantee that any takeoff or estimate is complete or correct, or that you will win or profit from any bid.

The Service is not engineering, design or legal advice. Circuit counts, conduit and conductor sizes, home-run lengths and other figures it suggests are estimating assumptions, not a design. Meeting the National Electrical Code and local codes, and following the contract documents, remains the responsibility of you and the licensed professionals on the project.

Starter prices, labor units and other reference figures in the Service are typical values offered as a starting point. They are not supplier quotes or a promise of what material or labor will cost; replace them with your own prices and rates.

The project assistant is an artificial-intelligence model. Its answers can be incomplete or wrong; check them against the drawings and your own judgment before you act on them.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service running and your data safe, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows, and it may sometimes be unavailable. We improve the Service continually and may add, change or remove features; if we remove something central to a paid plan we will tell you in advance. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost bids or lost data, arising from these terms or the Service; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time (see Privacy Policy). We may end or suspend your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or with 30 days’ notice for any other reason, in which case we will refund any prepaid time you have not used. Sections 5, 7, 9 and 11 continue after the agreement ends.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW (STATE)], without regard to its conflict of law rules, and disputes will be heard in the courts located there, unless the law where you live says otherwise. We may update these terms; if a change materially affects you we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept it. If any part of these terms is unenforceable the rest still applies. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refunds policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
